Arashi 101
The following is a guide to what we consider the
“essential” Arashi. That is, the stuff fans should probably know if they
wanna make it in the fandom. Whether you’re a total n00b who doesn’t
know the first thing about Arashi or a fan who’s been around the block,
this information should prove useful to just about anyone.
Be aware that this guide assumes you know about Johnny’s Jimusho and
idols in general. If you’re not versed with those topics, it’s probably
best for you to read this
first.
What IS Arashi?

In a nutshell, Arashi is a Japanese male idol
group consisting of five members, under the general management
of Johnny’s Jimusho. As with any boy band, they are well-versed in
singing and dancing, and their crowded concerts feature flashy visuals
and…“elaborate” costumes.
They also grace television screens several times a week hosting their
own variety shows, as well as promoting their projects on other ones.
With all their running around you can kind of think of them as…the
second coming of The Beatles. Only they’re Japanese.
WHO is Arashi?
Before getting into the nitty-gritty details about what Arashi does,
let’s first get acquainted with the 5 lovable dorks that make up the
group. Here they are from oldest to youngest.

Ohno Satoshi is the
constantly dazed “old man” of the group who is one of many talents but
exceptionally few words. He “accidentally” came into Arashi’s leadership
via a game of janken way back when. It was never official to begin
with, but the title stuck. More?

Sakurai Sho is Arashi’s mother
figure whose college degree, toned body, and other notable achievements
fail to overshadow his shortcomings, making him the butt of many jokes.
Ironically he’s the rapper of the group, and even writes his own
lyrics. More?

Aiba Masaki, the middle
Arashi-child, is better known for his cheerful spirit, Engrish-speaking
capabilities, and affinity for furry creatures versus his intelligence.
He’s into experimenting, too. Can the suction force of vacuum cleaners
lift a person into the air? Aiba knows! More?

Ninomiya Kazunari is a
mischievous, snarky, touchy-feely gamer-turned-magician who might have
been dipped into the Fountain of Youth. Besides being quite the
musician, he’s got promise as an actor. After all, he was
in that movie by a certain Clint Eastwood. More?

Matsumoto Jun is the youngest
member of Arashi possessing an unclear image of one who can be either
“sadistic”, extremely serious, romantic, cool, or dorky at the drop of a
hat. Be careful with his temper, though. He has been known to bite. More?
It’s pure magic how these five strikingly different people can get
along as well as they do, but in the end this chemistry is probably
Arashi’s major charm point. Admittedly the depth of their relationships
transcends the physical boundaries humans often set for themselves, so
don’t be alarmed by any excessive touching or
other intimate behaviors. Only true familiarity can allow them to
be comfortable in those situations!
